Description
The Suimenka or “Under the Water” Tenkara Fly Fishing Rod is a Nymphing Fly Rod and Dry Fly Rod all in one. It’s comes with 2 different tips that not only change the feel and action of the rod, but also change the length. The Nymphing Tip is thicker and stiffer and makes this zoom fly rod 9’/11′. The Dry Fly Tip is wispier and delicate and changes the length to 10’/12′. Change the tip section to change the action and the rod lengths. The Suimenka Zoom Tenkara Fly Fishing Rod is two fly rods in one, that’s innovation in simplicity. It is a medium fast-action rod with a 6:4 Flex. The Nymphing Tip stiffens and quickens the fly rod action. The Dry Fly Tip softens and slows the fly rod action. Two tips. Four lengths. You decide. The Suimenka Zoom Tenkara Fly Rod is similar to a regular 6wt fly rod. Pairs with the Performance Tip. This will provide an action in between the Nymphing Tip and the Dry Fly Tip for a third performance action. Fly Rod Approximate Equivalency (FRAE): 6wt.

Love at first cast. The Suimenka is a dream to cast and has quickly become my go to rod for mid sized streams and larger rivers. As a long time western fly fisherman (40+ years) this rod loads and casts like a very high end western rod. I paired mine with the Fusion mid weight floating line and I can’t over state how well this combination casts. If your a western flyfisher and having difficulty making the transition to a tenkara style casting stroke, or simply looking for a tenkara rod that’s casts like none other give Zen Tenkara a good hard look. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

So happy you are enjoying our Suimenka. It is exactly as you described and exactly what we designed it for! Regular fly fishers love the rod (glad our plan worked). Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. And thanks for the review!

This is a very interesting rod!
At first it seems a little stiff or “fast”when compared to typical tenkara rods (you’re not going to cast a level fluorocarbon line with this rod).
BUT load it with a length of fly line and it casts like a fly rod and it will carry weighted and wind resistant flies.
This will get some use on Dolly Varden bead fishing in AK and small redfish from my kayak.
