If you are in or near Seattle, keep reading. If you’re a long way from that location, skip through unless you’re a curious soul. Zen is coming to Seattle. In fact, not just our products but also the Owner and Founder of Zen Tenkara. You heard right. Karin Miller, fondly referred to as “The Queen of Tenkara” (or “That Crazy Tenkara Lady”) is heading your way this coming weekend, August 15th and 16th. Emerald Water Anglers, located at 4707 California Ave SW, Seattle is now an authorized Zen Tenkara Dealer. If you’re looking for tenkara rods, lines, gear and accessories, they’re your shop. They have it all. But even better, they’ll have Karin visiting, answering, teaching and demoing at the store this coming weekend.
If you’ve ever watched someone on the river using a tenkara rod and wondered about it (even if you won’t admit to it), now’s your chance to check it out. You don’t even have to admit to being there – or test casting a rod or two. If you don’t tell, we won’t tell. And hey, you’ll be amongst other tenkara enthusiasts or at least others who are curious about it…EWA is a tenkara friendly shop. In fact, they’re MORE than that. They’re Tenkara Excited! Plus, the event is FREE.
Friday evening Karin will be in store at Emerald Waters for a meet and greet to engage in conversations, share stories, give advice and answer questions about tenkara fishing, gear and fly fishing. Then Saturday, August 16th she’ll move to the water at Tanner Landing to wet lines and do demonstrations. Afterwards, we’ll all head back to the shop for more in depth conversations.

This is the perfect opportunity to explore the full range and possibilities of tenkara fly fishing… from the “Queen” herself! Cold water, warm water, fresh or salt, she’s done it on a tenkara rod. Just to be clear, she’s also done it on a rod and reel too. Karin enjoys both methods of fly fishing and believes her skill on a fly rod is a direct result of her time on a tenkara rod. She fishes the globe, is a passionate angler and an enthusiastic speaker. If you’re in or near Seattle, fly fish, tenkara fish or are simply considering either, you don’t want to miss this event.
