Rapids Camp owns 60 acres and over a mile and a half of frontage on the Naknak river in the heart of Bristol Bay. This private oasis provides a perfect location to launch their expert fly-out program. With a spare-no-expense ideology, Rapids Camp has assembled the most spectacular fleet of planes and boats ever put together in one lodge.
Each day is an adventure to remember when you leave the crowds behind. The key to an unforgettable fishing adventure is location. During your trip to Rapids Camp, you’ll not only fish all the great rivers of Katmai National Park, but you’ll also explore remote and rarely fished rivers on the Alaska Peninsula. Rapids Camp flies to more locations than any other river-based lodge in all of Alaska. Their knowledgeable guides will get you into incredible fish and can coach you on wrangling and landing monsters with or without a reel. The Lodge:
With five-star rustic luxury, a staff of nine guides, four pilots, two gourmet chefs and multiple support personnel Rapids Camp provides everything you need for the tenkara and fly fishing trip of a lifetime: the finest gear, 2 float equipped de Havilland Beavers, a Turbine Otter on amphibious floats, jet boats and the very best guides in Alaska! With a maximum of 10 guests per week, you’ll be indulged with single-occupancy accommodations and a private bathroom.
As a courtesy and convenience for guests, Rapids Camp also ships your catches from Alaska to your doorstep anywhere within the US. And, get this, all you have to do is make plans to get to Anchorage. They take care of and arrange the roundtrip jet charter that flies you to and from King Salmon.

The Zen Insights
Rapids Camp is one of those places where you immediately feel relaxed and at home. Owners Dan and Amy Herrig have been operating the lodge for over 20 years. They know the rivers and the area like nobody’s business. They cater to your needs and sit down with you on a daily basis to discuss your fishing goals and then plan the next day’s adventure based on the species and experience you desire, where the fish are, and the weather. The daily fly-outs are incredible in and of themselves and offer spectacular views of the vastness and majesty of Alaska. Touching down on remote rivers and lakes is a thrill and they choose locations and rivers that meet your specific physical abilities, so no worries there. After a full day of fishing, a plane and cold beer await you for the flight home. After a hot shower and maybe a soak in the hot tub or stint in the sauna (or even a massage), cocktails and unbelievable gourmet hor’devers await in the bar where stories from the day’s adventures and fish pictures are shared with all. Dinner is another whole incredible story and experience.
