We did it! We made it! We got to the 2020 finish line. Exhausted, tired and feeling worst for the wear, but it’s OVER. Welcome 2021, Lets start a new fresh year with a new fresh outlook. We’ve had our downtime, relearned how to wash our hands, sneeze and cough into our elbows, and take care of ourselves to stay healthy. Vaccines are here and the world is opening up for business once again – both the businesses AND the consumers, needed that to happen.
At Zen, we were lucky to do some incredible travelling at the very beginning of 2020, prior to Covid craziness and managed to fish some amazing destinations: Alphonse in the Seychelles Islands, Rapids Camp Lodge in Alaska, Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge and Xcalek Fishing, both in Mexico. Unfortunately, both our Bahamas and Iceland trips were cancelled due to quarantine and pandemic travel restricts, but I’d say we were still very lucky to accomplish what we did in a year like we had.
This new year has in store some very exciting adventures as well. If you’re feeling the travel bug and are hungry to do some destination fishing again, let me wet your appetite:
Feb. 14th-21st South Andros Lodge, South Andros Island, Bahamas:
This is the bonefish capital of the world! Whether you’re very experienced or a saltwater novice, South Andros provides tons of opportunities for giant schools of hungry bonefish and plenty of shots at individual huge tailing bones. Throw is some tarpon, permit and barracudas and you’re in flats heaven. Direct flights from Fort Lauderdale or Nassau, Bahamas makes getting there easy. There’s still a few spots left if your dreaming of warm water fly fishing. This is a rod/reel or tenkara option trip that’s happening Feb 12th. Mid-March (Specific dates TBD), Guanaja, Honduras:
This trip recently came up as an incredible opportunity to fish incredible Guanaja. We are headed to the remote and pristine fishery of the Bay Islands. The lodge is a jungle beach paradise surrounded by breathtaking Caribbean flats full of permit, bones tarpon and triggerfish to name a few.
